Street Dancing 6

This pair danced with more energy and speed than the others.  They always seemed to be teaching each other new steps, laughing all the way.

Most of the couples changed partners from time to time; they dance to celebrate friendship.

Although the rest of the group danced as partners, this lovely woman always danced alone.  Somehow the advice, “Dance like no one is watching,” comes to mind.  But maybe the opposite is actually more apt.  She danced, gracefully and precisely, as if everyone were watching.

My granddaughter dances this way, too.  This post is in honor of her third birthday.

And here, a younger couple, who, slender, elegant and poised, float across the pavement, like stars on a stage.

On the edge of group, with tiny, controlled steps, danced this older couple, in love for a lifetime.

Every evening and every morning, dancers fill the parks and open areas in Chengdu.  Joy, friendship and freedom filled the group of dancers in one open area near the river.  I will share a series of pairs, each dancing in their own styles, to welcome in the new year.
