After poking my camera lens through the school fence to photograph of these middle school students playing ping pong at recess, I wondered what would happen to me if I did the same thing in the United States. I am thankful for the freedom to photograph without someone questioning my motives; but I do prefer to capture images of people only after I’ve asked them for permission. I try to make sure that I only ever publish photographs that are positive and encouraging, which helps me feel justified in posting some I’ve taken on the sly.
