This tea house door, near my bus stop, invites people to do business through unhurried conversation or to find rest in the company of friends.

This couple slept, cushioning each other, until the last subway stop on line 1.

Chinese Chess

People play this game of strategy all over Chengdu, in parks, in alleys, on the riverside, and in tea houses.  The man on the right seems to be thoroughly enjoying beating his opponent!

Healthy Snack

A melon slice on a skewer, what a healthy and refreshing snack!  My son is demonstrating here how to enjoy it in a peaceful moment on the banks of the Jinjiang River.

Taking a Tiny Nap

People in Chengdu seem to be expert nappers.  They can catch “forty wink”s just about anywhere.  Maybe this habit is one of the reasons they have so much energy, diligence and persistence?
